Reverse Historical Year Closing was a service the professional service team at Microsoft would do for customers that needed to open the previous fiscal year. But now you can do it yourself.
There are a few stipulations. See below:
- Will need access to Year-End Closing form; will prompt warnings that backups are required prior to performing process.
- Will require all user’s be out of the application and will check the ACTIVITY file.
- Process button will be disabled if End-user is not Maintaining History in the GL Setup form.
This works pretty well. It deletes the balance forward amounts in the open year for the balance sheet items.
I was also able to do this for years that had been closed using previous versions of GP, so there doesn’t seem to be any magic involved. It merely reverses the GL Closing process. Fantastic!
You will still want to make good backups of your databases before you run this.
